Google Tests Their Project Loon Autolauncher in Puerto Rico

To test the viability of setting up new Project Loon launch locations in remote areas, Google decided to head down to Puerto Rico for a little test run. The company packed up and shipped one of their autolaunchers 3,500km away & rebuilt it. The test was a success as they were able to fill, lift and launch each of their tennis-court sized balloons in under 30 minutes.

Facebook Live is Coming to Android Next Week

Facebook Live is a popular way to stream content online in real-time, but the feature was launched on iOS first and there hadn’t been word about when it would hit Android device. Today, the company says more than 50% of people watching live videos are doing it on Android. So Facebook is getting ready to launch the feature on Android starting next week in the US.

Update to IMDb Comes with Material Design Elements

This update comes with a huge UI redesign and actually implements a lot of Material Design elements into the app. Material Design elements in this update include the Action Bar, the Navigation Drawer, as well as consistent and modern text appearance throughout the app.

Microsoft Officially Cancels Windows Bridge for Android, AKA Project Astoria

Microsoft Delays the Release of Project Astoria Tool for Developers

After a long, long time of silence from Microsoft about Project Astoria, Windows Bridge for Android has officially been cancelled. The company says they received and listened to a lot of feedback about the 2 Bridge technologies. They were told that having “two Bridge technologies to bring code from mobile operating systems to Windows was unnecessary” and developers having to choose between them led to confusion.
