What Has Your Experience Been Like with CyanogenMod?

CyanogenMod ROMs are popular amongst enthusiasts for their sheer availability, their feature set and the (relatively) AOSP-feel it gives skinned OEM devices. Yet these are not always optimized or stable, sometimes earning the ROM a bad reputation among those with high custom ROM standards or devices that haven’t seen stable ports. What has your personal experience been like?

Huawei is Testing a Beta of Android 6.0 for the Honor 7 in India

By registering your IMEI number on a Google Drive form, users can apply to receive an OTA update of an Android 6.0 Marshmallow (and EMUI 4.0) beta that Huawei is currently testing in India. This is just a beta and the company has said they plan on rolling out the final version by January or early February.

Apple Requests that Samsung Pays an Additional $180 Million in Patent Case

Apple just recently won a patent case against Samsung and a little over a week ago the South Korean tech giant paid a hefty $548 million in damages. Apple feels that it isn’t enough because they have just asked the courts to make Samsung pay $180 million more in “supplemental damages and interest”.

TENAA Certifies a Higher End Variant of the Honor 5X

A newer model of the Huawei Honor 5X with better specs has just been certified by TENAA. It will have a 5.5″ 1080p display, an SoC that is presumed to be the Snapdragon 616, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP rear and 5MP front camera, metal build materials and a fingerprint sensor on the back. It will be available in Grey, Silver and Gold with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Report Claims the Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 Edge will be Different Sizes

A report out of South Korea reveals some alleged details of the upcoming flagship from Samsung. We are told that the Galaxy S7 will have a 5.2″ display while the Galaxy S7 Edge will have a 5.5″ display. The report also revealed that Samsung had sold over 393 million smartphones by the end of September of this year.

Cher Wang Says HTC is Here to Stay

Reuters recently published a piece claiming that OEMs like Sony and HTC are on their last leg and facing extinction. HTC’s Cher Wang responded by saying they have no plans to bow out anytime soon. In fact, Focus Taiwan reports that HTC is planning “more flagship models to target niche markets” as their way to compete in 2016 and beyond.
